Premier Barrel whiskies ‘modernised’ with new design

Nov 14, 2018by Amy Hopkins

Douglas Laing & Co has unveiled a new look for its Premier Barrel line of single cask Scotch whiskies.

The updated packaging “aims to modernise Premier Barrel whilst honouring its traditional and artisanal charm” with “rich bold colours” and a new wooden gift box. The original ceramic decanter for Premier Barrel has been given a new parchment paper label, which features “eccentric yet romantic rhyming tasting notes”. Whiskies in the range will also be differentiated by coloured labels denoting the regions in which they have been distilled. Part of Douglas Laing’s Exceptional Single Casks series, Premier Barrel first launched in 2008. The new-look range, available from specialist Scotch whisky retailers across the UK, Europe and Asia, includes four single cask whiskies: Craigellachie 10 Years Old (£65/US$84); Glen Garioch 8 Years Old (£60/US$77); a 100% Sherry cask-matured Dailuaine 10 Years Old (£62/US$80); and Bunnahabhain 10 Years Old (£70/US$90). Douglas Laing & Co is in the process of building a new distillery in Glasgow. The £10.7 million (US$14m) site on the banks of the River Clyde will also include a bottling complex, visitor centre, whisky laboratory and archive.
