Pernod Ricard Agrees to Buy Malfy Gin
Drinks giant Pernod Ricard announced that it has agreed to buy the Italian gin brand Malfy.
This range of gins, distilled by the Vergnano family in the Italian region of Moncalieri, has a presence in several international markets, including the U.S., the U.K. and Germany.
Introduced in 2016, Malfy distills its gins using Italian ingredients such as Italian juniper, coastal-grown lemons and Sicilian blood oranges and pink grapefruits. The range includes four different variants: Originale, Con Limone, Con Arancia and Gin Rosa, which sell at a suggested retail price of about $30 per 750-ml. bottle.
The financial terms were not disclosed, but Pernod Ricard said that it expected the transaction would close shortly. The deal strengthens Pernod’s position in the high-end gin category, the company says, and follows its 2018 partnership with Monkey 47 and its 2016 acquisition of Ungava.
