Paloma inspires new Pimentae cocktail
Ready-to-drink cocktail brand Pimentae has created a Grapefruit Margarita inspired by the surge in popularity of the Paloma.
Launching in time for spring, the new expression offers a 'fresh and fragrant' blend of pink grapefruit, premium Tequila, and subtle agave sweetness packaged in four different formats: a 125ml can, bottles, a five-litre bag-in-box, and a 20-litre keg. The packaging design has been hand painted by artist Morgan Dagata, and features a vibrant, retro dreamscape inspired by the 'bold flavours' of the Grapefruit Margarita. Bursting with pink hues, citrus energy, and playful 1970s nostalgia, the artwork invites consumers into ‘a world of sun-soaked, carefree adventure where every sip can be savoured’. The launch of Pimentae’s Grapefruit Margarita has been ‘perfectly timed’ to tap into the booming popularity of Tequila and the Paloma cocktail. According to Bacardi’s latest Cocktail Trends Report, interest in agave spirits is surging, with Tequila sales in the UK projected to grow by 88% between 2021 and 2026. In addition, the Paloma is now emerging as a global favourite, reflecting a consumer shift toward lighter, refreshing drinks. However, co-founder Alice Parmiter told The Spirits Business that to have diversified into Palomas would have not have been in-keeping with the Pimentae brand. “As Margarita specialists, launching within this category keeps brand consistency. A Paloma is typically carbonated and lower in ABV (9-10%), so we wanted to launch a product consistent with Pimentae’s existing format and premium strength. “Margaritas are one of the UK's favourite cocktails and this launch only strengthens Pimentae's position in the space instead of offering duplication, whilst still appealing to the Paloma lovers.” Sitting at 14.5% ABV, the Grapefruit Margarita can be enjoyed straight over ice for a strong, premium cocktail, or topped with soda to be enjoyed as a Paloma. “This offers flexibility for different drinking occasions,” added Parmiter. Pimentae says it has a loyal and growing community, and the brand continues to break down barriers by ‘making Tequila more approachable through exceptional, bar-quality cocktails’. Its portfolio also includes the signature Spicy Margarita, a classic Tommy’s Margarita, and a Cucumber Margarita. Pimentae’s products are available through major retailers including Waitrose, Selfridges, John Lewis and Ocado. The 125ml canned format launches today (7 March) through the brand's website, and in selected Waitrose stores, and Ocado.
