Swiss spirits company Origen X Group has relaunched historic Ukrainian Mikolasch Vodka, which has origins dating to 1842.

The Mikolasch family has produced vodka in Lviv, Ukraine, since 1842 using authentic agricultural methods. Now revived by Origen X, Mikolasch Vodka aims to highlight the grain used to make the spirit, the field origin – 'terroir' – the seasons' climate and harvest, and the farmer on each bottle. Mikolasch has two vodka varieties: the ‘Single Farm’, distilled from traceable farmed organic corn; and the ‘Cuvée’, a blend distilled from unique grains, which will launch in autumn 2024. The two expressions showcase the brand's commitment to agriculture, origin and production. Mikolasch Single Farm organic and kosher vodka is offered at 40% ABV and retails for £25 (€30/US$32) for a 500ml bottle. The brand has secured distribution in global markets including the UK, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Poland, Greece, Turkey and China. “As the team at Origen X continues to focus on building the world’s most valuable portfolio of historic spirits brands, it has taken over a dozen historians and other professionals across all of Ukraine to help us shine the light on what was originally one of the most exciting spirit brands in the world,” said Zak Oganian, CEO of Origen X. “The return of Mikolasch to global markets marks the first step in the construction of one of Ukraine’s first global premium brands, and we are excited to be part of it.” Mikolasch is reviewing proposals to support organisations operating in agricultural education in Ukraine and is seeking to speak to NGOs and charities working in this field. The brand joins Kinahan’s Irish whiskey in Origen X’s portfolio.
