OP Anderson launches raspberry schnapps
Sweden’s oldest aquavit brand, OP Anderson, is tapping into the pink spirits trend with a raspberry-flavoured schnapps.
OP Anderson Petronella Raspberry launched on 11 April via Systembolaget’s products-for-order range. The new expression aims to ‘modernise’ the schnapps (or snaps) category. Bottled at a lower alcohol strength of 25% ABV, OP Anderson Petronella is described as ‘rounded and robust’, with raspberry flavour and a touch of spiciness. It will retail for SEK 199 (US$19) per 500ml bottle. It is recommended to be served with herring, salmon and fresh salads; brand owner Anora Group suggests serving the raspberry schnapps in a Spritz cocktail, and as an apéritif with ice. “OP Anderson Petronella Raspberry is a modern snaps with a lower alcohol content that is taking the pink trend in spirits one step further,” said Marcus Pedersen, senior brand manager at Anora. “The combination of traditional aquavit spices and raspberries provides for an incredibly versatile drink. OP Anderson Petronella Raspberry works just as well as snaps for summer drinks.” In February this year, OP Anderson parent company Anora Group saw net sales rise by mid-single digits to reach €702.7 million (US$746.1m) in 2022. Anora Group reported 3.4% net sales growth for the first six months of 2022, thanks to continued market normalisation in the second quarter. At the end of last year, aquavit brand OP Anderson revealed plans to invest in lighter glass bottles and recyclable PET packaging to save more than 150,000kg of glass annually.
