Old Forester announces 2024 Birthday Bourbon
Sweepstake winners will be able to purchase their bottle of Birthday Bourbon at the Old Forester distillery in Louisville.
The 2024 release of Old Forester Birthday Bourbon was aged for 12 years and bottled at 53.5% ABV. The whiskey was selected by master distiller emeritus Chris Morris and master taster Melissa Rift, with aid from assistant master distiller Caleb Trigo, and comes from a total of 209 barrels. “Twelve years of maturation in Warehouses G and L has produced a rich and unique flavour profile perfect for this sought-after annual release,” Trigo said. Old Forester will be holding a nationwide sweepstake for a chance to purchase a bottle, running on the brand’s website from 15 to 21 August. Winners must purchase their bottle at the Old Forester Distillery between 5 September and 14 December. The whiskey will also be available at retailers nationwide for US$200. On the nose, it shows apricot, apple, spice cake, and sweet tobacco, while the palate brings toasted oak and cinnamon spice. Each year, Old Forester releases Birthday Bourbon in honour of founder George Garvin Brown’s birthday on 2 September. The brand notes, however, that bottles will not be available for purchase at the distillery on this date. “There’s no better way to celebrate our founder and longstanding history than by getting our rarest expression in the hands of bourbon lovers across the country,” Rift said. The distillery recently released a rum-finished Bourbon as part of its experimental 117 Series.
