English gin producer Masons has revealed its latest expression, which will launch exclusively with budget supermarket Aldi. The new gin, called G12, will be available in the store from 1 October, carrying an RRP of £24.99 (US$32) per 70cl format. G12 is described as having "fresh and zingy" flavours with notes of herbs and juniper and a refreshing "citrus burst". Karl Mason, co-founder of Masons Dry Yorkshire Gin, said: “G12 was the 12th recipe trial in our search to create a new flavour using more modern distilling techniques to increase our output. "We wanted to create a fresh gin with a light and citrus feel, a refreshing drink using Mediterranean inspiration. We originally used mint leaves, but realised basil worked better and G12 was born." According to Mason, the expression has been in development for the past six years. Karl Mason added: “We are continuing to grow our business and expand our gin range, so after talking with Aldi for almost three years we felt the time was finally right to release our G12 edition, which is extremely exciting." G12 is the brand's latest expression since it launched its limited edition pepper and pear-flavoured gin in December 2017.
