Macallan adds third edition to Harmony Collection

Edrington-owned The Macallan has launched two new whiskies as part of a collaboration with Stella and Mary McCartney.

Created by the brand’s whisky maker, Steven Bremner, The Macallan Harmony Amber Meadow and Green Meadow were inspired by the natural world, drawing on the McCartneys’ shared memories of the Scottish countryside. Both whiskies are created using a combination of Sherry-seasoned oak and Bourbon casks. Amber Meadow has an ABV of 44.2% and orange and lemon aromas, alongside oak and melon notes. Green Meadow is 40.2% ABV, with citrus and wild primrose aromas, alongside vanilla and almond notes. The edition’s presentation boxes and bottle labels have been made using discarded meadow cuttings, with the packaging accompanied by photography of The Macallan estate, shot by Mary McCartney. The new expressions will be available at Harrods, Selfridges and The Whisky Exchange from today (11 October) for £160 (US$196). Bremner said: “There is so much to discover with The Macallan Harmony Collection Amber Meadow. It is a single malt redolent of warm meadows and mature barley fields, with a rich, citrus-scented finish. “The 100% natural summer evening colour derived from our exceptional Sherry-seasoned oak and Bourbon casks reflects the richness of the flavour which awaits. “On the nose, fresh citrus fruits and honeysuckle are complemented by hints of vanilla, coconut and ripe barley fields. “On tasting, notes of oak, lemon, melon are prominent, accompanied by flavours of classic scone and almond with green tea, before giving way to a rich and sweet long finish.” The Macallan has also launched a new limited edition collection of 11 lifestyle pieces designed by the sisters. Together: a Collection for The Macallan by Stella and Mary McCartney features a selection of bespoke pieces, including handmade glassware, a ceramic flask encased in an apple ‘leather’ alternative sleeve and a brass napkin weight in the shape of an acorn, as a tribute to The Macallan’s oak casks. The Collection will be sold exclusively as a complete set for £10,000 (US$12,280). The second edition of The Macallan’s Harmony Collection celebrated the world of coffee, while the debut focused on chocolate. Last month, The Macallan acquired its Sherry cask supplier, Vasyma.
