Luxco creates Blood Oath Pact 8

by Kate Malczewski

American whiskey producer Luxco has released the latest edition in its Blood Oath series: Pact 8, featuring a Calvados-finished Bourbon.

The whiskey was developed by Luxco master distiller John Rempe. The blend is comprised of three spirits: a 14-year-old ryed Bourbon, an 11-year-old ryed Bourbon and an eight-year-old ryed Bourbon finished in Calvados casks. “I’ve once again sourced three great Bourbons for Blood Oath Pact 8, and I’m particularly excited to include a Bourbon finished in Calvados casks,” said Rempe. “The Calvados cask will bring additional tasting notes characterised by slight apple on the nose, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon, as well as flavour notes of ripe apples, juicy pears, butterscotch and even subtle hints of chocolate. Blood Oath Pact 8 is a Bourbon I’m proud to share with Bourbon lovers, but the recipe is a secret I’ll be keeping to myself.” The whiskey is priced at US$119.99 per 750ml bottle, with 51,000 bottles allocated; 1,400 of those bottles will be set aside for future release in a Trilogy Pack collection. The release follows the launch of Blood Oath Pact 7, a Bourbon finished in Sauternes casks, in March of last year. In April 2021, Luxco was purchased by third-party producer MGP Ingredients in a US$475 million deal. Since the acquisition, Luxco has boosted MGP's performance; the company saw sales increase by 58.5% last year. The whiskey maker is currently undergoing a US$4m expansion to increase its production capacity by 75%.
