Sazerac-owned The Last Drop Distillers has unveiled two new releases from closed distilleries in Trinidad and Scotland.

The two expressions from the 2026 Collection are Release No.41, a 25-year-old Trinidad rum, and Release No.42, a 60-year-old single grain Scotch whisky. The two releases are said to celebrate the long maturation process and the unique characteristics of two now-demolished distilleries: Trinidad's Caroni Distillery, known for its industrial background, and Scotland's Carsebridge Distillery, renowned for its grain whisky heritage. Rebecca Jago, director of brand experience at The Last Drop Distillers, said: "The 2026 Curated Collection brings together two extraordinary spirits shaped by time, rarity, and provenance. "These releases embody the discoveries and stories we are privileged to share; spirits that reveal something truly singular and remind us why we search the world for moments of brilliance." The 25-year-old Caroni is a marriage of two Bourbon cask-aged rums: one distilled in 1997, and the other in 1999. The distillery closed in 2003. Matured in Trinidad's tropical climate and bottled at 65.2% ABV, the rum offers aromas of roasted nuts, spiced oak, pineapple, vanilla, and delicate floral notes of orange blossom and jasmine. The palate follows with notes of sweet papaya, stewed hibiscus flower, spiced ginger cake, green banana leaf, white pepper, and a wisp of smoke. Limited to 261 bottles, the rum has a suggested retail price of £1,750 (US$2,380). Kizito Owusu Sarfo, brand director of World Aged Spirits at Sazerac, commented on the release: "This Caroni cask is a powerful reminder of Trinidad's rum‑making heritage: bold, industrial, and unmistakably expressive. Decades of tropical maturation have revealed layers of character that speak to the island's spirit and to Caroni's enduring legacy." Highlighting the character of Scotch grain whisky, The Last Drop 60-year-old was drawn from an ex-Bourbon cask No.160237. The whisky was distilled in 1965, during the distillery's twilight years. Once a cornerstone of Lowland grain whisky production, Carsebridge Distillery closed its doors in 1983. The whisky displays notes of toffee, baking spices, sweet fruit, and clove on the nose, followed by toasted almonds, crème brûlée, and oak‑spice on the palate. Limited to 140 bottles at 42.4% ABV, the expression is available at an SRP of £3,700 (US$5,030). Sarfo added: "Our other release is a remarkable single grain whisky that is a survivor from a long-closed Lowland distillery. It offers a rare glimpse into Scotch whisky's golden age. "After sixty years in cask, it has developed a depth and quiet elegance shaped by patience, time and craft. I was taken aback when I tasted both and still find the flavours developing each time that I have the opportunity to taste." Each bottle from The Last Drop 2026 Collection is wax-sealed, individually numbered, and presented in a bespoke case that includes a 50ml miniature, a pocket-sized tasting book, and an engraved stopper cork. The 2026 Collection will be available in limited quantities across the UK and at select high-end retailers, bars, and restaurants. Founded in 2008, The Last Drop Distillers has been part of Sazerac Company's portfolio since 2016. The independent bottler released its first Tequila, Release No.40 Extra Añejo, in November last year.
