Larsen Cognac debuts Cooper’s Selection range

Finnish drinks group Altia has launched a new series of Cognacs under its Larsen brand to celebrate the craftsmanship of barrel-making.

Larsen Cooper’s Selection is a series of limited edition Cognacs in “tribute to the handcraft of barrel-making”. The range has launched with #01 VSOP Double Toasted, which has aged in twice toasted barrels. The additional charring of the barrels gives the Cognac "sweet aromas of vanilla, toffee and roasted notes". Suvi Reinikkala, marketing director of spirits at brand owner Altia, said: “Larsen’s ambition is to be the most innovative Cognac brand globally. We want to invent new ways of enjoying Cognac and push the boundaries. "Explaining how Cognac is made and coming up with new ways to control the flavour are really valuable. Cooper’s Selection is one example of Larsen’s innovative work.” Bottled at 40% ABV, Larsen Cooper’s Selection #01 VSOP Double Toasted is available to purchase in Finland and Norway for an RRP of €38 (US$42) per 500ml bottle. Larsen Cognac said it plans to launch a new edition of Larsen Cooper’s Selection every one or two years. Altia saw sales reach €249.5 million (US$277m) in the nine months to September 2019 – boosted by the Scandinavian market. Earlier this year, Larsen Cognac unveiled an updated bottle design and launched a new creative campaign to highlight the brand’s “heritage and personality”.
