UK supermarket Asda will stock The Lakes Distillery’s vodka, gin and whisky in 18 stores in the North West after the Cumbria-based producer won a regional listing.

The deal will see The Lakes Gin, The Lakes Vodka and The One – British Isles Blended Whisky stocked across Asda’s local footprint. The moves follows a new approach from the supermarket, which aims to “lead the way in supporting local distilleries and brewers”. “We are delighted to be working with Asda, this achievement really demonstrates how our brands are growing, building momentum and the positive reaction from our customers,” said Paul Currie, founder and managing director of The Lakes Distillery. “Asda seek quality and provenance within their spirits range and we recognised these qualities in abundance within our portfolio. Asda customers will be able to experience the Best of British via our award winning portfolio- The One, The Lakes Gin and The Lakes Vodka.” Alan Jackson, buying manager, local beer, wines and spirits and core ambient, added: “The culture of artisan spirits continues to grow in the UK and its clear customers are trading up to more premium spirits, particularly ones which come from local distilleries. “The new spirit lines we have launched are all premium quality and will give customers access to multi award-winning, locally distilled products that truly are best of British.” The Asda listings follow an announcement from the Lakes Distillery earlier this month confirming it had secured travel retail listings with Gebr. Heinemann and Dufry at key locations in Australian and New Zealand Airports.
