Knob Creek releases blend of Bourbon and rye
The limited offering from Knob Creek combines two of the brand’s popular whiskeys and is bottled at a higher proof.
Knob Creek Bourbon x Rye Kentucky Blended Straight whiskey takes 70% of the brand’s seven-year-old rye and blends it with 30% of its nine-year-old Bourbon. The limited edition whiskey is then bottled at 53% ABV, higher than the 50% that both whiskeys are individually bottled at. "Knob Creek has captivated whiskey fans since its inception and this year, we are pushing traditional whiskey boundaries with our new Bourbon x Rye blend, delivering two of our best expressions, in one flavourful sip," Freddie Noe, eighth-generation Beam master distiller, said. "It is an honour to work with my dad to go beyond the traditional and craft an unexpected offering that upholds my grandfather's vision of creating high-quality, flavourful whiskey." Alongside Baker’s, Booker’s, and Basil Hayden, Knob Creek is part of the Jim Beam Small Batch line, which Noe’s grandfather Booker Noe conceived of in 1992. This new whiskey is priced at US$45 and has notes of sweet maple, vanilla, baking spice and black pepper. Noe and his father continue to innovate within the Beam portfolio thanks to the Fred B Noe Distillery, which opened in 2021 and is being used to craft more experimental releases such as Freddie’s Little Book series. Last month, The Spirits Business spoke to both Noes about the rerelease of Jim Beam Black, which is now bottled at 45% ABV and bears a seven-year age statement.
