Jura unveils Perspective No.1
Whyte & Mackay-owned Jura Distillery has launched a 16-year-old single malt, named Perspective No.1.
Perspective No.1 is the first expression in a new series from the distillery that's been created with whisky explorers and connoisseurs in mind, with whiskies un-chill filtered, showcasing the whisky's natural colour and bottled at 46.5% ABV. Each bottle label features a unique geometric gold and black design, meaning no two bottles are the same. In subsequent years, followers of Perspectives will be able to collect a set that is unique to them. Perspective No.1 is finished in oloroso Sherry casks and is a nod to the distillery's discontinued expression, Diurach’s Own. It is said to offer a 'fresh take' on the island distillery’s signature 'fruity, aromatic and coastal' whisky profile, updating the old expression to represent Jura's current house style. Joe Ricketts, whisky maker at Jura, commented: “We are particularly proud of this expression which we have quietly been developing at Jura. “Perspective No.1 is a 16-year-old single malt which is a soft, fruity take on Jura’s complex island spirit, highlighting core elements of the distillery character with notes of peach, assorted dried citrus, wildflower honey and toasted walnut.” In 2023, Jura Distillery celebrated its 60th anniversary since it reopened in 1963. The island is home to just over 230 residents. Jura Perspective No.1 is available from spirits retailers and stockists in the UK, France and select European markets. In November 2023, Jura's long-time distillery manager Graham Logan retired after three decades at the company, paving the way for his successor, Jamie Muir.
