Irish whiskey and coffee have been long-term companions and now Irish Distillers has put a fresh twist on the classic combination in the form of new Jameson Cold Brew.Jameson Cold Brew combines triple-distilled Jameson Irish whiskey with cold brew coffee extract, which is made from 100% Fairtrade Arabica beans from Colombia and Brazil. Created in response to growing demand for coffee-driven cocktails such as the Espresso Martini, the expression is said to have a “bold coffee taste balanced with charred wood on the palate and a warming mouthfeel on the finish”. Bottled at 30% ABV, Jameson Cold Brew will be available to purchase in limited quantities from the Jameson Distillery Bow St, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Dublin Airport from September at an RRP of €28.50 (US$33). Brendan Buckley, strategy, innovation and prestige director at Irish Distillers, said: “Over the past 10 years, we have seen the continued rise in popularity of both Irish whiskey and craft coffee culture, and while the two are no strangers in the glass we wanted to modernise this iconic duo. “Jameson Cold Brew combines the best of both worlds in a new and refreshing way and we are confident that Irish whiskey and coffee fans alike will enjoy the taste experience it offers.” Earlier this month, Jameson launched its first UK TV advert in seven years following a £1.2 million (US$1.5m) investment from Pernod Ricard UK. In June, The Spirits Business named Jameson Supreme Branch Champion 2018 due to its strong innovation strategy, bold marketing and smart investment plans. Irish Distillers’ CEO Conor McQuaid has since said he hopes to turn Jameson into one of the world’s top 10 spirits brands.
