Isle of Barra Distillers launches gin liqueur
Spirits producer Isle of Barra Distillers has expanded its range with the launch of its Strawberry & Ginger Gin Liqueur.
Following the release of the brand’s Rhubarb & Heather Gin Liqueur, the family-owned business has created the liquid with local strawberries on the Isle of Barra, located in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The liqueur offers a balance between the ‘natural sweetness’ of the strawberries and the ‘subtle spice’ of the ginger, as well as a ‘refreshing flavour profile’. Mirroring its enclosed vivid pink liquid, the packaging is adorned with pink details, and a dripping wax effect on the seal. The Strawberry & Ginger Gin Liqueur can be purchased for RRP £22 (US$26.91) from the brand’s website isleofbarradistillers.com, and clocks in at 20% ABV per 500ml bottle. The brand has also expanded its portfolio with an Island Dark Rum, which launched at the end of June. Crafted with carrageen seaweed, the expression is ‘full of island maritime notes’. On the nose, aromas of coconut and clove are presented, followed by coconut and brown sugar on the palate. The 38% ABV rum offers a complex finish, concluding with the warmth of cardamom. Island Dark Rum retails for £35 (US$42.81). Last year, the producer revealed plans to build a whisky and gin distillery on the Scottish island, complete with a visitor centre.
