Indri joins Mangrove Global

Indian single malt brand Indri has partnered with spirits distributor Mangrove Global to relaunch in the UK market.

Mangrove Global has further expanded its world whisky portfolio with the arrival of Indri single malt, created by Piccadily, India’s largest independent malt spirits producer. The whisky launched in India in 2021 and in the international market in August 2022, including an initial limited launch in the UK by Whyte & Mackay. The new distribution deal will bring Indri’s two single malts, Dru and Trini, and limited volumes of Diwali to UK consumers. “The beauty of world whisky is the story that each spirit is able to tell as the authentic flavours of each terroir shine through. These distinct expressions from Indri each offer something different to the drinker, but all will help to transport world whisky lovers to this unique part of the world,” said Nick Gillet, MD of Mangrove Global. “We’ve spent a lot of time and effort building our world whisky portfolio into a best-in-class curation of exceptional spirits. Having Indri join us is just further testament to Mangrove’s commitment to bringing new, exceptional liquids to the UK market.” The elements used across the Indri range pay homage to the Northern Indian terroir. Made using natural Indian ingredients, including six-row barley, the whisky is distilled and matured in a subtropical climate, encouraging accelerated evaporation and helping it to mature much faster.

“There is something really exciting about whiskies produced and aged in such extreme climates – the way the production processes are tweaked because of this produces flavours you can’t find anywhere else. Indri’s whiskies are very rich and complex with tropical fruit aromas and velvety texture,” said Stefanie Holt, curator of the Mangrove whisky portfolio.

“I’m already looking forward to the conversations this whisky will start at tastings in the not so distant future!”

Indri’s flagship expression, Trini, combines three different casks – Bourbon, French wine, and Pedro Ximénez (PX) Sherry – resulting in a fruity, sweet and nutty profile.

Dru is inspired by ancient mythology: ‘Dru’ is a wooden vessel where a drink is collected and offered to the gods. This cask-strength expression is aged in ex-Bourbon casks selected by master blender Surrinder Kumar. Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition 2023 is a limited release made from peated six-row barley and matured in PX Sherry casks. Mangrove Global’s diverse whisky portfolio includes brands such as Israeli Milk & Honey, Stauning from Denmark, and Kiefer Sutherland’s Red Bank Canadian whisky, which launched last month in the UK.
