Orkney-based distillery Highland Park has released the second Scotch whisky in its cask strength series.Highland Park Cask Strength Release No.2 has been bottled at a cask strength of 63.9% ABV. It is available globally for RRP £60 per bottle, in 700ml and 750ml formats depending on the region. The whisky was mostly matured in Sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, as well as a ‘small quantity’ of ex-Bourbon casks. Tasting notes include pear, almond cake, toasted oak, liquorice, cracked black pepper and peat. Gordon Motion, the producer's master whisky maker and creator of the latest expression, said: “Cask Strength Release No.2 celebrates the harmonious balance of tastes in the classic Highland Park style. “I want to give everyone who loves Highland Park the chance to experience our single malt whisky in its purest form, its full flavour allows you to discover the taste and strength that appeals to your palate by adding ice or water according to your preference.” The distiller's cask strength series is a permanent feature in its core range. It is available to purchase from specialist whisky retailers worldwide, as well as the brand's online shop, distillery and Albert Street store. Highland Park is owned by Edrington. In March this year, the producer revealed a 50-year-old bottling.
