Pernod Ricard has launched the first “accessibly priced” single malt from its Glen Keith distillery, initially available in the UK market only.Revived by Pernod Ricard in 2013 as part of the group’s £40 million Scotch investment, Glen Keith predominantly creates liquid for the French group’s blends. Available at an RRP of £30 (about US$39), the new Glen Keith Distillery Edition is more reasonably priced than previous single malts released by the distillery, which retailed at £50-£175. “The single malt market has been one of the most dynamic and profitable sectors of the spirits market in the last 10 years and is at the forefront of a movement in consumer taste towards spirits with greater authenticity and substance,” said James Middleton, channel director for impulse at Pernod Ricard UK. “We’re incredibly excited to be able to offer a product in time for Christmas, which has not been widely available previously, as only rare single casks of Glen Keith have been sold before.” Glen Keith Distillery Edition has been bottled at 40% abv without an age statement. Its packaging features an illustration of the Speyside distillery and gold detailing. When Glen Keith was reopened in 2014, it underwent a major upgrade, resulting in 50% greater malt distillation capacity.
