Glasgow Distillery unveils Prometheus 30 Years Old

by Melita Kiely

The Glasgow Distillery Company has completed its Prometheus series with the launch of a 30-year-old Speyside single malt Scotch whisky.

With a limited edition run of 544 bottles, Prometheus 30 Years Old is a peated whisky that was matured in Sherry butts. Bottled at cask strength of 51.8% ABV without chill filtration, the whisky has been priced at RRP £1,250 (US$1,640) per 700ml bottle, and is available to buy online via the Glasgow Distillery website. The bottle will be packaged in a presentation box, which will include an individually numbered booklet about the whisky. Tasting notes for the 30-year-old include aromas of toffee, raisin and toasted spice, leading to flavours of vanilla biscuit, orange marmalade, spice fruit cake, walnut and a sweet, smoky finish. Liam Hughes, CEO and co-founder of Glasgow Distillery, said: “Prometheus 30 Years Old is a very special single malt whisky and one we’re proud to be able to bring to consumers. “We are immensely proud of the success of the Prometheus series over the last five years. “The launch of Prometheus 30 is both a celebration but also a bittersweet moment as it is the very last expression in the series. Once Prometheus 30 Years Old is gone, it’s gone.” The final Prometheus whisky follows the launch of a 26-year-old, 27-year-old and 28-year-old.
