The Glasgow Distillery has released its first limited edition rum: Banditti Club Port Cask Finish.

The no-age-statement rum is limited to 974 bottles, each of which has been individually numbered and hand-labelled. Made from fresh sugarcane juice on the island of Madeira, the rum was matured in Glasgow, Scotland, and bottled at 52.4% ABV. Mike Hayward, director of brands and The Glasgow Distillery, said: “This new limited edition expression of our Banditti Club rum has been in the pipeline for a while, and we’re really excited to get it out onto the market. “We’re continually looking at how we can develop new, innovative and exciting spirits at The Glasgow Distillery, and this cask-matured variant is a great example of the innovation and experimentation that is in our heart." Banditti Club Port Cask Finish received a Gold medal in The Rum Masters 2021. Priced at RRP £28 per bottle, the Port Cask Finish is available online at glasgowdistillery.com, or via The Good Spirits Co in Bath Street and Clarence Drive, Glasgow. Hayward added: “Banditti Club Port Cask Finish is naturally fermented, giving it a wonderfully grassy and fruity flavour profile. The long and slow maturation in virgin oak offers notes of vanilla and woody spice. “The finishing period in tawny Port casks takes this spirit to another level, adding rich fruity layers of strawberries, blackberries and dark chocolate.” In 2020, The Glasgow Distillery Company secured a £5.5 million (US$7m) loan to help it expand internationally.
