Four Roses adds to Single Barrel Collection
Gallo-owned Four Roses Bourbon has launched the second annual instalment of its Single Barrel Collection, dedicated to the distillery’s 10 unique recipes.
The new releases are the first under the ownership of Gallo, which acquired Four Roses from Kirin Holdings earlier this month in a multi-million-dollar deal. Originally launched last year, the rotating Single Barrel Collection offers whiskey fans the opportunity to discover Four Roses' 10 Bourbon recipes, each featuring unique combinations of mash bills and yeast strains. All 10 recipes have distinct tasting notes, allowing for complexity, consistency, and diversity within the brand's portfolio, including both limited editions and core products. The second trio of releases features recipes OESQ, OESF, and OBSK. Each has been aged for seven to nine years and bottled at 50% ABV. OESQ features a mash bill consisting of 20% rye and utilises the Floral Essence yeast strain. The combination creates a fruit-forward Bourbon with aromas of red berries, honey, caramel, and light oak. On the palate, it presents floral notes and vanilla. OESF offers a more complex profile, combining a 20% rye mash bill with the Herbal Note yeast strain. On the nose, it displays aromas of candied fruit, clove, oak, and creamy vanilla, met on the palate by notes of light mint and grains. The last of the trio, OBSK, is made with a mash bill of 35% rye and the Slight Spice yeast strain. The higher-rye Bourbon offers aromas of allspice, cocoa, vanilla, and cinnamon, followed by notes of rye spice and caramel on the palate. All three Single Barrel releases are priced at US$49.99. The new expressions follow the launch of the brand's campaign, Meet Me With Four Roses, last month.
