Four Pillars rolls out pink gin across Australia

by Kate Malczewski

Spirits producer Four Pillars has extended the availability of its limited edition pink gin in Australia, its home market.

Four Pillars x Arbory Afloat Pink Gin was first introduced in 2019. The bottling is a collaboration between the Healesville-based distillery and Arbory Afloat, an outdoor floating bar and restaurant in Melbourne. The gin was previously available to purchase through the venue exclusively, but Four Pillars has now decided to sell the limited edition expression on its website, with shipping across Australia. This year's edition will launch on 15 February, marking the gin's third release. The rose-hued juniper spirit draws inspiration from the sunsets on the Turkish coast, and riffs on the recipe for the brand's flagship citrus-forward expression. “There is no mistaking this is a Four Pillars Gin,” said Cameron Mackenzie, distiller at Four Pillars. “It has intense aromas of citrus with both the orange and finger lime giving a bright, fresh character.  “The palate is a little different – pine forest juniper, light spice with a lingering Turkish delight character from the rose water. The light-pink colour comes from the addition of carmine, the natural colour used in many liqueurs such as Campari.” In October last year, Four Pillars launched its first ready-to-drink gin and tonic. The Australian producer's Rare Dry Gin, featuring Asian botanicals, whole fresh oranges and lemon myrtle, earned a spot in our pick of 10 award-winning gins from our Gin Masters 2021 blind tasting.
