Fortnum & Mason debuts Gin and Tonic tea blend

by Michael J Ritchie

British luxury retailer Fortnum & Mason has launched a range of booze-flavoured tea blends, including Gin and Tonic and Bloody Mary.

The new collection, called Oddi-teas, pay homage to some of Fortnum & Mason's most famous creations and flavours. In a nod to the drinks that have been sold at their bars, the collection includes Bloody Mary, Summer Cocktail and Gin & Tonic flavoured blends. The Gin & Tonic tea is a green tea with flavours of juniper, fennel, coriander and lemon balm. The Bloody Mary is a black tea with flavours of tomato, black peppercorns, lemon peel and chili flakes. The Summer Cocktail is fruitier, with notes of juniper, rose petals and summer fruits. The Oddi-teas range is blended and packed in the UK, and made using 100% natural ingredients. Other flavours without an alcohol theme include Chocolate Violet, Lemon Curd and Vanilla Nougat. The Oddi-teas range is available from Fortnum & Mason for £6.95 per box. Fortnum & Mason's is not the only one to tap into the trend for booze-inspired teas – in April this year, UK brand Noveltea introduced two alcoholic tea expressions developed to put a twist on the quintessentially British afternoon tea.
