Forager’s Gin marks royal wedding with new expression

by Owen Bellwood

Forager’s Gin has unveiled a new limited-edition expression to celebrate this year's royal wedding, called Clogau Reserve.

The small batch expression has been released in collaboration between the gin producer and Welsh jeweller Clogau. Forager’s Clogau Reserve uses botanicals indigenous to the Welsh mountains, including juniper, sea buckthorn, apple, elderberry, gorse flower and heather. The expression will see only 440 bottles created, with just 250 being made available to the public. Forager’s head distiller, Chris Marshall, said: “Forager’s Clogau Reserve is an exceptionally rare, incredibly refined and perfectly fitting way to mark the royal wedding in spectacular fashion. “The exclusive expression will see the use of a single, hand-selected, oak cask from one of northern Spain’s finest wineries, combined with pure Welsh mountain waters from the Clogau shale in Snowdonia, naturally filtered through seams of gold.” Clogau Reserve, priced at £130 (US$185) per bottle, is bottled at 45.3% and will be available in May either directly from the distillery or through luxury department store Harvey Nichols. In the lead up to the wedding between prince Harry and Meghan Markle, two cocktail bars in Harvey Nichols will also be creating signature drinks using Forager's Clogau Reserve.
