Ezra Brooks 99 enters Europe
American spirits producer Luxco has launched Ezra Brooks 99 Bourbon in the UK and European markets.
The Kentucky straight Bourbon whiskey was introduced to the Ezra Brooks range in the US last year, bottled at 49.5% ABV. John Rempe, master distiller at Lux Row Distillers, said: “With Ezra Brooks 99, our goal was to create a higher-proof Bourbon without sacrificing the rich notes Ezra Brooks is known for, and we achieved that with 99. The result is a smooth, drinkable Bourbon with hints of caramel, vanilla, chocolate and spice that we are incredibly proud of.” The expression has been charcoal-filtered and builds upon the signature ‘spicy, rye Bourbon mash bill taste’ of the brand’s flagship Bourbon, which is bottled at 45% ABV. The liquid is presented in an embossed bottle complete with a natural cork closure. Ezra Brooks 99 will be distributed in markets including the UK, where it will be distributed by marketing agency Lightbox Brands, plus Germany, Russia and Italy. Greg Mefford, international sales director at Luxco, owner of Lux Row Distillers, said: “We believe the refined style and honest flavour of Ezra Brooks is amplified in the 99, giving consumers of the brand even more to connect to and we’re very much looking forward to introducing this elevated expression to the UK and European markets.” The Bourbon retails for RRP £25.99 or €34.95 (US$25.25) per 700ml bottling. Last month, Luxco appointed Ian Stirsman as the master distiller at its Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, to oversee the production of brands including George Remus Bourbon and Rossville Union Rye Whiskey. MGP-owned whiskey maker Luxco also secured listings for two of its Bourbons through UK-based online grocery business Ocado in November 2021.
