Edinburgh Gin Rhubarb and Ginger goes on sale

Ian Macleod Distillers-owned Edinburgh Gin has expanded its rhubarb and ginger-flavoured spirits range with the launch of a full-strength gin.

Edinburgh Gin Rhubarb and Ginger is bottled at 40% abv and is made by adding natural rhubarb and ginger flavours to Edinburgh Gin Classic after distillation. Priced at £28 (US$36) per 700ml bottle, Edinburgh Gin Rhubarb and Ginger Gin is available to buy from the distillery website and will launch into bars and restaurants UK-wide. Neil Mowat, UK marketing director at Edinburgh Gin owner Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “Since launching our original Rhubarb and Ginger Gin Liqueur in 2014, Edinburgh Gin has been category defining within flavoured gins and gin liqueurs. “Our original Rhubarb and Ginger Gin Liqueur remains the on-trade’s number one premium flavoured gin product, and we’re excited to now offer bartenders and consumers alike our original rhubarb and ginger flavour profile as a full-strength classic gin.” To celebrate the launch of the full-strength Rhubarb and Ginger Gin, Edinburgh Gin will roll out a 'fortune-telling gin ball' activation into bars across the UK. Based on the magic-8 ball, the fortune-telling gin ball will predict eighteen perfect serves for the new gin – including Head for the Med, made with Rhubarb and Ginger Gin and Mediterranean tonic. The new gin joins the brand’s 20% abv Rhubarb and Ginger Gin Liqueur and its ready-to-drink Rhubarb and Ginger Gin Liqueur with Ginger Ale, which is bottled at 5% abv. Last year, Ian Macleod Distillers unveiled plans to build a new multi-million-pound distillery for Edinburgh Gin, which would increase the brand’s production capacity by more than 200%.
