Cotswolds Distillery unveils Platinum Jubilee whisky

May 25, 2022by Alice Brooker

English producer the Cotswolds Distillery has launched 300 bottles of a limited edition whisky to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Cotswolds Platinum Jubilee Single Cask Whisky was aged in cask #1952, selected especially to mark the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II ascending the throne. Matured in a first-fill shaved, toasted and re-charred (STR) ex-red wine cask, the single malt presents notes of orange, dark chocolate and toffee. On the nose, sweet aromas of fruit and orange can be sensed, while the palate is awash with flavours of marzipan and caramel. The finish is very long with light tannin and hay. The cask was filled in 2016. Bottled at 55.4% ABV, the whisky is presented in a gift box and will retail for RRP £94.95 (US$118.76). The 700ml bottle will be available from tomorrow (26 May) from the Cotswolds Distillery’s website, and in the three distillery shops. The producer recently released a limited edition single malt whisky matured in rum-seasoned ex-red wine casks, the third expression in the brand's Hearts & Crafts series. Also, the Cotswolds Distillery recently saw a shake up of its team, with the appointment of Rob Patchett as its first whisky brand ambassador, and the hire of Jeremy Parsons as its new chief executive officer.
