Clumsies bartenders launch vermouth brand

The award-winning team from The Clumsies bar in Athens has created its own vermouth brand called Otto’s Athens Vermouth.

Created by award-winning bartenders Nikos Bakoulis and Vasilis Kyritsis and other staff members, the vermouth is infused with wormwood, rose petals, olive leaves, oregano, thyme, citrus fruits and vanilla. The end product is described as slightly bitter with ‘fresh rose petal, citric and vanilla tones’, and is recommended served in an Otto’s and Bubbles: 70ml Otto’s Athens Vermouth and 100ml tonic water or soda water, poured over ice and garnished with lemon or orange peel. The name was inspired by King Otto, who decided that Athens should be the capital of Greece in 1840. It was here that Ioannis Vouher created the first Greek vermouth by appointment of King Otto. Bottled at 17% abv, Otto’s Athens Vermouth is priced at £18.95 per 750ml, and is distributed in the UK by Amathus Drinks.
