Clase Azul introduces Spirit of Champions

Luxury Tequila house Clase Azul has unveiled a limited edition collectable expression that honours Mexico’s artistry, heritage, spirit, and its role in the upcoming Fifa World Cup.

Clase Azul Spirit of Champions celebrates ‘the precise moment in which greatness begins’ and ‘the suspended instant where intention becomes action’. It has been inspired by the upcoming Fifa World Cup, which will be co-hosted in Mexico this summer. However, rather than pay tribute to the competition itself, Clase Azul Mexico has chosen to celebrate the universal human spirit that is awakened when the world gathers as one, with a focus on unity, passion, pride, and the pursuit of greatness. “Moments like these transcend sport; they bring cultures together to create lasting memories,” commented Arturo Lomelí, Clase Azul founder and CEO. “This limited edition is a tribute to the unique magic that emerges when different nations pursue the same trophy and, for ninety minutes, remind us that to feel intensely, collectively, is what makes us truly human.” This vision is said to ‘unfold as a dialogue between contemporary luxury and Mexican artistry’, and seeks to celebrate Mexico’s unity and the spirit of hospitality that will feature on the world stage this summer. The decanter for this special edition has been designed as a sculptural object that ‘captures the quiet threshold where resolve gathers force’. Its elongated ceramic form, finished in luminous ivory and traced with golden lines, aims to evoke trajectories of motion and ‘the sensation of energy held in anticipation’. Metallic accents have been incorporated to introduce visual tension, while a golden cap crowns the piece as a symbol of clarity and focus. At its centre, the Clase Azul emblem, crafted with malachite inlays and accented in green and gold, serves as a ‘symbolic nucleus’, representing transformation and energy. The liquid held within the decanter is a joven Tequila curated by master distiller Viridiana Tinoco, which was intentionally selected to mirror the concept behind the edition, as joven Tequila is said to symbolise collaboration, harmony, and ‘the beauty that emerges when distinct elements come together with purpose’. The blend is composed primarily of Tequila aged for 28 months in French wooden vats made from fine-grain oak from the Forest of Tronçais, complemented by a touch of unaged Tequila created exclusively for this release. Unlike traditional casks, these vats allow for a slower, more nuanced interaction between wood and spirit, favouring aromatic refinement and structural clarity rather than overt oak influence. The resulting Tequila reveals a deep gold hue with luminous highlights and a full body. Aromas include notes of cooked agave, coconut, toasted wood, fresh vanilla, almond, white pepper, beeswax, and toasted bread. On the palate, flavours of cooked agave, walnut, almond, and toasted coconut evolve into a long, elegant finish marked by sweet and spiced notes of cinnamon. Limited to 10,000 one-litre decanters, Clase Azul Tequila Limited Edition Spirit of Champions is available from today (14 April) at Casa de los Leones – Clase Azul’s new home in the heart of Polanco, Mexico City – as well as Hedonism, Berry Bros & Rudd, and Selfridges in the UK for £2,100 (US$2,844).
