Casa Noble unveils extra añejo Tequila for US$1.5k

by Owen Bellwood

Constellation Brands-owned Tequila house Casa Noble has released an eight-year-old extra añejo expression, priced at US$1,499.

Casa Noble Selección del Fundador Volume II is the second in a new series, Colección del Fundador – or Founder’s Collection. The triple-distilled extra añejo Tequila has been ageing in Taransaud French white oak barrels for eight years, developing a “complex and elegant character.” The new expression is available worldwide and has been released as a celebration of the brand's rich history. The organic Tequila has been made with 100% blue weber agave plants, originally planted in 1997 to commemorate the founding of Casa Noble. The brand's founder and maestro tequilero, Jose 'Pepe' Hermosillo, said: "My desire is to take Tequila to the next level, to see what it can be. Selección del Fundador Volume II is an exquisite spirit showcasing our philosophy that making exceptional Tequila is truly a noble pursuit. This Tequila has been 20 years in the making, I hope people can enjoy sharing this treasured creation with us." The Tequila itself is a "warm, harmonious spirit full of character and elegant complexity." The expression has a "rich amber colour with a savoury and silky mouth feel. Intricate aromas of cooked agave layered with chocolate, butter, and vanilla give way to subtle notes of dried fruit, sweet flowers, and cinnamon to enhance the experience like no other." Casa Noble is one of the few certified organic and kosher Tequilas on the market today, it is made in small batches and always triple distilled. The South American distillery released an expression aged in ex-Cabernet Sauvignon casks in November last year. Just 300 bottles of Selección del Fundador Volume II will be available worldwide for US$1,499.00.
