Leeds-based Canvas Cocktails has collaborated with local spirits producers to launch a limited edition Yorkshire Day cocktail box.The limited edition at-home cocktail box has been designed to celebrate Yorkshire Day (1 August), by showcasing some of the county’s up-and-coming drinks brands. The cocktails feature a spiced rum distilled with Yorkshire heather and honey from Libations Rum, and a gin from John Roberts Botanic Request Gin, headed up by former distiller at Sipsmith Gin, Ben Peel. Canvas’ home delivery boxes contain cocktails that are designed to offer the same feeling of drinking in a bar. The boxes include pre-batched cocktails that are ready-to-serve, come with a unique scent stick to mimic the ambience of a cocktail bar, and feature short videos from bartenders that share the story behind the drinks and how best to serve them. Canvas released its first cocktail menu in May, called Moments by Canvas, in which each drink was inspired by a specific moment at home that the team felt would be ‘simply perfect’ for a cocktail. The Moments theme has been continued in the limited edition Yorkshire box. The Libations Rum-based Heather Old Fashioned cocktail has been inspired by ‘getting comfy under a blanket once the last of the summer sun has gone down’. It is a twist on a classic Old Fashioned cocktail, and plays on this subtle floral note from the heather and honey both in the drink and used in the incorporated Spiced Rum blend. The second cocktail in the box is the Blush & Bloom Cooler, featuring the new Electric Rose gin from John Robert’s Botanic Request. The cocktail has been designed to evoke feelings of nostalgia, and is inspired by founder Peel’s childhood summer drink of choice: his grandmother’s homemade cloudy lemonade. It is made with Electric Rose Gin, and offers ‘nuanced floral notes’ and a ‘refreshing character’. The limited edition boxes are available on www.canvas.bar from today (25 July), priced at £19 (US$22.74) for two cocktails. Canvas previously launched a limited edition cocktail box for Burns Night in collaboration with Aberfeldy.
