Camus enters Irish whiskey category

Cognac producer Camus has joined forces with Baring family-owned Revelstoke Trust to launch the Lambay Irish Whiskey brand, which comprises a small-batch blended variant and a Cognac cask-finished single malt.

Launched under joint venture Lambay Island Whiskey Company, the whiskey brand takes its name from the Baring family-owned island that lies three miles off the coast of Ireland. Its inaugural products comprise Small Batch Irish Whiskey Blend, a triple-distilled, Cognac cask-finished whiskey that offers notes of "malt, flora, cracked almonds and pepper"; and Lambay Irish Whiskey Single Malt, a "deliciously smooth unpeated whiskey" matured in first-fill Bourbon casks. "We are delighted to collaborate with the Baring family for the development of this range of Irish whiskeys," said Cyril Camus, president of the House of Camus. "Our experience and passion for using the rarest and most exclusive crus to create perfectly balanced spirits is ideally suited to this distinctive and pristine land. "We are looking forward to contributing to the protection and conservation of the unique Lambay territory." Alexander baring, seventh baron of Revelstoke, added: "Lambay Island, so deeply cared for and protected by my family for decades, offers a unique maritime microclimate environment which is perfect for adding a distinctive finish to this new range of whiskeys we are crafting with Camus.
