Brother Justus backs veterans with new whiskeys
Minneapolis-based Brother Justus will release two commemorative whiskeys this year in honour of World War Two veterans.
Brother Justus Whisky Company is launching a collaborative series of 100% malted barley whiskeys with the Commander’s Own Chapter of the 34th Infantry Division Association, a Minnesota-based non-profit organisation founded in 1947 by World War Two veterans. “Honour is part of our DNA — we honour our land and legacy with every bottle of whiskey we produce; to use our storied whiskey to further honour soldiers, current and veteran, is a true privilege,” founder and CEO Phil Steger said. Commander’s Own, the first of two American whiskeys planned for 2025, will be released in late May at 43% ABV. Priced at US$73, it offers notes of mandarin orange, custard and toffee on the nose, with clove, coffee, and toasted malt on the palate. The second whiskey, Commander’s Cut, is slated for a November release. The two expressions are intended to serve as commemorative products for current and former members, families, and friends of the 34th 'Red Bull' Infantry Division, while generating resources to support its legacy and provide scholarships for members and their families. Division Association chapter president and retired Colonel Chad Sackett added: “The quality of Brother Justus’ Whiskey, combined with their deep respect for history and legacy, set the perfect table for us to jointly create something exceptional and meaningful for our current and former service members and their families. "What we have developed honours the history of the Red Bulls and the 34th ID Association's commitment to carry on that legacy.”
