Brave New Spirits releases next Cask Noir batch
Glasgow-based Brave New Spirits has revealed the third batch of whiskies in its Cask Noir series.
Cask Noir focuses on limited release, single cask bottlings, with its Scotch whiskies often matured or finished in high-quality rare wine or spirits casks. The 12-strong list features the brand’s oldest whisky, a 30-year-old single grain named Adventures of Burke & Hare, which is distilled at North British Distillery in Edinburgh and matured in a Bourbon barrel. There is also an exclusive release for Germany – an 11-year-old whisky named Antlers On The Sound, which is distilled at Jura Distillery and matured in a first-fill Rivesaltes wine cask – with the brand planning further distributor exclusives. Some of the bottles in the series are part of what Brave New Spirits calls The Unusual Cask Experience. These whiskies have been matured or finished in unusual casks from across the world. The series also features Cheeky Little Rascals, a category for younger whiskies. The new releases will be available from mid-September and priced around RRP £67 to £100 (US$84-US$125) per bottle. As well as the Cask Noir range, Brave New Spirits has a range of small-batch single malt and single grain whiskies, named Whisky of Voodoo, as well as the Yellow Edition, a single cask collection that focuses on provenance, individuality, quality and flavour. It also offers a volume products range, featuring single malts such as McKintyre’s Club & Casino and the Highland Shepherd.Last month, the independent bottler received planning approval to build a net-zero single malt distillery in Campbeltown.
