Benriach launches 25YO whisky for GTR
Brown-Forman-owned Benriach has released a 25-year-old whisky exclusively for global travel retail (GTR).
Named The Benriach Triple Distilled 25 Years Old, the 47% ABV whisky is produced from the distillery's initial batches of triple-distilled spirit and matured in three different casks: Bourbon, oloroso Sherry and virgin oak. It joins expressions such as the Quarter Cask, the Smoky Quarter Cask, Triple Distilled Ten, and 22 Years Old Triple Distilled in the brand's GTR-exclusive line-up. Stéphane Morizet, marketing director GTR at Brown-Forman, said: "The Benriach Triple Distilled 25 Years Old exemplifies our dedication to offering unique and exceptional whiskies to our global travellers. “This limited edition release represents a refined and elegant single malt, expertly blended to showcase the rich spice and complexity that a quarter century of maturation imparts." The whisky's notes on the nose consist of toasted sticky toffee walnuts, orange compote, and Manuka honey, while on the palate, 'warming oak spice and fine soft leather that support flavours of nectarine and oloroso Sherry' can be found. The brand said it has a well-rounded finish, marked by a 'lingering touch of white grape’. A total of 900 cases of the whisky have been put on the market; it is available for RRP £300 (US$380). Benriach’s master blender, Rachel Barrie, added: "Matured for a quarter century, Benriach Triple Distilled Aged 25 Years is an exceptionally rare whisky, showcasing the exquisite complexity and creativity of the Benriach Distillery." Last year, the Speyside producer debuted a pair of 40-year-old single malts, including one of GTR – the Forty Octave Cask Matured.
