Barton 1792 launches Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon

Nov 15, 2017by Owen Bellwood

Sazerac's Barton 1792 Distillery has added a new whiskey to its range of limited edition expressions.

The new Bottled-in-Bond expression honours the 1897 Bottled in Bond act, which put tighter controls on whiskey production and restored drinkers confidence in the product. The new expression from Barton 1792 is a ‘well-aged’ Bourbon coming from barrels all filled during the same season at the distillery. The Bourbon has been bottled at exactly 100 proof (50% abv) with notes of “unmistakable spice being met with notes of charred oak and fresh mint. Subtle caramel apple tones are delicately balanced with the lingering essence of coffee and black pepper". This is the seventh limited edition release from the oldest fully operational distillery in New Orleans, joining previous releases such as High Rye, Sweet Wheat, Single Barrel and Full Proof Bourbons. The 1792 Bottled-in-Bond will be available in December, and each autumn another batch of Bottled-in-Bond will be released. 1792 Bottled-in-Bond has an RRP of US$35.99 for a 75cl bottle.
