Beam Suntory has created an Amazon-exclusive expression of Auchentoshan single malt Scotch whisky, which has been finished in ex-Sauvignon Blanc wine casks.Set to launch on 15 November, Auchentoshan Sauvignon Blanc was first matured in ex-Bourbon barrels before being finished in Sauvignon Blanc barrique casks. Bottled at 47% ABV, the single malt is said to have notes of citrus, white grapefruit, white peaches and green apple on the nose, leading to “peppery and zesty” notes on the palate, with flavours of green grapes, acacia honey and lemon curd. The finish is said to be “hot and peppery”, with custard apple and a salty mouth feel. Auchentoshan Sauvignon Blanc is available to pre-order now, priced at £50 (US$64) per bottle. Eileen Livingstone, senior director of Scotch whisky for Beam Suntory, said: “Auchentoshan Sauvignon Blanc is a unique innovation that disrupts the category and provides consumers with a drinking experience out of the norm. This enables us to connect with urban millennials who are looking to sample new expressions and shared market experiences.” Last month, Auchentoshan unveiled a new packaging design to encourage younger drinkers to “share, mix and enjoy” its single malts range. This followed news the brand was replacing its Springwood and Heartwood Scotch whiskies in travel retail with American Oak Reserve and Dark Oak respectively.
