Auchentoshan’s New Malt Order debuts whisky

Beam Suntory-owned Scotch Auchentoshan has developed a limited edition single malt whisky in collaboration with 12 international bartenders, called The Bartenders’ Malt.

Created 'by bartenders, for bartenders', every element of The Bartenders' Malt has been developed by The New Malt Order – a cocktail competition and collective launched as part of Auchentoshan's 'Distilled Different' campaign – including cask selection, packaging design and branding. The Bartenders’ Malt is said to offer dried apricots, milk, chocolate, honey and green tobacco leaf on the nose, with "delicate floral cherry blossom", "buttery brioche" and "zesty notes of ginger" on the palate. The inaugural New Malt Order competition launched in 2016 and invited entrants from five countries to create bitters using Auchentoshan new make spirit, which would then be added to their own signature Auchentoshan & Ale serve. The shortlist was judged by an expert panel in each country, resulting in a collective of 12 individuals, who were invited to Glasgow for an immersive experience with Auchentoshan's master blender that spanned technical insights, sensory experiments, personality pairings, and a blending session. Each blend created by the 12 bartenders was then combined to create The Bartenders’ Malt, and the bottled features their indivudkla signatures to reflect this.
