Armorik Chouchenn whisky given permanent spot
French whisky brand Armorik has upgraded one of its limited edition expressions to its permanent portfolio.
Armorik is produced at the Warenghem distillery in Lannion, France. In 1998, it became the first single malt from France and Brittany. In 2025, Armorik Small Batch Chouchenn launched as a limited run of 2,500 bottles. The whisky was aged in Chouchenn casks (Chouchenn is a type of mead native to Brittany in France) and Breton oak casks. The whisky was bottled at 46% ABV and priced at RRP €54.50 (US$64). In March 2026, the producer added Armorik Small Batch Chouchenn to its permanent range. David Roussier, managing director of Armorik, said: “We do this work to reveal the potential of Breton terroir. The fact that this whisky found its place so naturally, thanks to our partners and their customers, is for us the greatest recognition. “We will continue to produce it with the same respect, the same patience, the same attachment to what Brittany gives us.” The aroma of the whisky is described as exuberant with intense honey, vanilla cream, and some rosemary and oak. The palate is soft and fresh, with honey candy, light menthol freshness, vanilla and clove. The finish brings beeswax aromas and vanilla with a light touch of pepper. Erwan Lefebvre, Armorik master blender, added: “As a Chouchenn producer myself, I had long had the idea of combining our Armorik distillate with Chouchenn casks. “The 2025 edition confirmed that these floral and honeyed notes blend wonderfully with our Breton whisky. We will continue to develop this blend with the same care to guarantee the aromatic continuity that has won over our customers.” Last year, The Spirits Business explored the potential for French whisky to compete globally in the spirits scene.
