Admiral Rodney Officer’s Release No.1 launches

by Melita Kiely

St Lucia-made rum brand Admiral Rodney has kick-started its new limited edition series with the launch of Admiral Rodney Officer’s Release No.1.

Comprising a limited run of 4,200 bottles, the new release comes as part of the Officer’s Release series. The rum was filled into ex-Bourbon oak casks in 2006 and left to mature for 13 years. It was then finished for nine months in ex-Port barrels. The expression pays tribute to admiral George Rodney, a British naval officer who distinguished himself in 1782 during the Battle of the Saintes. Admiral Rodney Officer’s Release No.1 rum will be available exclusively through The Whisky Exchange. Bottled at 45% ABV, the rum has been priced at £66.95 (US$84.50) per 700ml bottle. Furthermore, those who purchase a bottle of the new release will have the chance to enter a prize draw to win the full range of the now discontinued 1931 rum range, comprising edition one to six. A winner will be selected at the end of June and more details can be found on The Whisky Exchange website, thewhiskyexchange.com.
