As we move through the rest of 2026, here is the projected release calendar for the most sought-after bottles of the year, from summer staples to the massive fall drops.

Summer: Setting the Stage

While the end of the year gets most of the attention, late summer brings several highly competitive releases that signal the start of allocation season.

• Russell’s Reserve 13-Year-Old
  Expected Window: June – July
  What to know: Wild Turkey’s barrel-proof, non-chill filtered 13-year release has become incredibly difficult to secure. It typically hits select markets in early to mid-summer, setting the benchmark for premium aged bourbons.
• Mister Sam Tribute Whiskey
  Expected Window: August
  What to know: Released by Sazerac to honor Sam Bronfman, this highly limited blended whiskey usually surfaces late in the summer. Allocation is notoriously tight nationwide.

Fall: "Hunt Season"

September through November is the busiest time of year for allocated whiskey. Distilleries release their flagship premium collections just ahead of the holiday season.

• Old Forester Birthday Bourbon
  Expected Window: September 2nd
  What to know: Released annually on the birthday of founder George Garvin Brown, this vintage-dated bourbon is one of the definitive markers that the fall release season has begun.
• Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch (LESmB)
  Expected Window: Late September
  What to know: Four Roses masterfully blends select recipes from their 10 distinct yeast and mashbill combinations. This annual barrel-strength release is prized for its complexity and consistent quality.
• Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC)
  Expected Window: October
  What to know: The centerpiece of the allocation calendar. The collection includes George T. Stagg, William Larue Weller, Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye, Eagle Rare 17-Year-Old, and Sazerac Rye 18-Year-Old. Securing any bottle from the BTAC lineup remains one of the hardest feats in American whiskey.
