Teeling bottles 30yo Irish single malt whiskey
Irish whiskey producer Teeling has released just 500 bottles of a 30-year-old single malt as part of its Vintage Reserve Collection, priced at €1,500 (US$1,740) each.
Teeling 30-Year-Old Irish Single Malt was distilled in 1987 and initially matured in ex-Bourbon casks for 25 years, before being aged for an additional five years in ex-white Burgundy French oak casks. The dual maturation process is said to impart an "extra depth of fruit flavours", which balances with the "deep layered malt and wood notes" of the whiskey. Jack Teeling, founder of Teeling Whiskey, said: “We are extremely proud to release some of the oldest ever bottlings of Irish Single Malt and welcome this new addition to the Vintage Reserve Collection. “This very limited release of 30-Year-Old Irish single Malt is a one of a kind due to the French white wine influence that transforms this whiskey into something truly special. There is nothing else like this on the market and gives whiskey drinkers the chance to own their own unique piece of Irish whiskey history.” Each decanter is presented in a high-end wooden gift box with its own certificate of authenticity. The Teeling 30-Year-Old Single Malt will be available initially at the Teeling Whiskey Distillery, the Celtic Whiskey Shop, and Dublin Airport, before being rolled out internationally to markets including France, Germany, Switzerland and select Asian regions. Last month, Teeling Distillery’s first single pot still Irish whiskey broke the record for the most expensive whisk(e)y from a new distillery when it fetched £10,000 (US$12,992) at auction.
