Tarquin’s Gin maker creates Toffee Vodka Liqueur
Cornwall-based Southwestern Distillery has combined toffee and sea salt for its debut release in the flavoured vodka segment.
Southwestern Distillery, which produces the Tarquin’s Gin and Connie Glaze vodka brands, has partnered with local producer Cornish Sea Salt Co on its inaugural flavoured vodka. The new Connie Glaze Toffee Vodka Liqueur (20% ABV) blends toffee with sea salt crystals from Cornish Sea Salt Co, resulting in a liquid with flavours of rich toffee, caramelised brown sugar and soft buttery notes. Each batch of Connie Glaze Toffee Vodka is slowly filtered through Cornish sand at Southwestern Distillery, located outside Padstow. “The joy of being a craft distillery is the opportunity to experiment, create small batches of spirits that can push the boundaries of flavour innovation, and partner up with fellow local artisan producers to celebrate the best of Cornwall,” said master distiller and founder Tarquin Leadbetter. The toffee-flavoured liqueur is recommended served over ice, with the option to rim the tumbler with melted toffee and Cornish sea salt. Connie Glaze Toffee Vodka Liqueur is priced at £24 (US$31) per 700ml bottle and will be available to buy from the brand’s website. It will soon be available in the UK on- and off-trade, and in global export markets. The Connie Glaze brand was named after the golden sand beaches of Constantine Bay and the blue water of the Atlantic Ocean. Connie is short for Constantine and glaze means ‘blue’ in Cornish. The distillery is donating 1% of all sales of Connie Glaze to Beach Guardian CIC to support its work cleaning Constantine Bay and the Cornish coast. Connie Glaze recently secured listings in UK supermarkets Tesco and Booths.
