Rum advent calendar returns for ninth year
Danish spirits distributor and bottler 1423 has released its 24 Days of Rum calendar in the run-up to Christmas.
The calendar showcases 24 premium rums and rum-based spirits, each from a different country, as well as two tasting glasses. Brands in this year’s calendar include Chairman’s Reserve, Plantation, Mezan and Rhum J M. Available across Europe, the calendar invites consumers to explore the diversity of rum origins, styles and production methods. The calendar has an RRP of €84.95 (US$103) and is available to purchase at specialist retailers. Consumers also get access, through a QR code, to an interactive digital version of the calendar, which provides further detail on each rum and encourages rum enthusiasts to engage with each other and log their tasting notes. Joshua Singh, 1423’s co-founder and export manager, said: “24 Days of Rum is not only a delightful way to journey through December; it’s also a captivating form of rum education that offers insights into diverse cultures.” “As the content evolves annually, we’ve witnessed the return of enthusiastic participants who eagerly explore new and exciting rums.” Founded in Denmark in 2008, 1423 has since extended its reach through subsidiaries in Germany, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and Spain, and now exports to more than 35 countries. Premium rum is widely predicted to be the next big spirits category. Interested in expanding your rum knowledge even further? Check out the results of The Rum & Cachaça Masters 2023.
