Portobello Road bottles navy strength gin

Portobello Road Gin has added a navy strength expression to its portfolio and will donate a portion of proceeds from sales to ocean welfare charities.

Bottled at 57.1% abv, Portobello Road Gin Navy Strength will be available across both the on- and off-trade from July at an RRP of £26 (US$34) per 500ml. The new variant is distilled with English wheat and includes English sea salt as one of its botanicals. The nose is described as having “predominant” juniper and citrus aromas, leading to juniper and salinity on the palate and a peppery finish. Jake F Burger, co-founder and director, said: “Our signature 171 London Dry Gin has gone from strength to strength over the past six years with the launch of The Distillery [and] growth in exports within the US and European territories. “Introducing a navy strength blend to our core product range was a natural next step. The heritage of gin is woven into the fabric of Portobello Road Gin and our visitor experience, The Ginstitute and likewise the relationship between gin and the Royal Navy is an integral part of the spirit’s history. “It is intense, ‘ginny’, punchy, characterful, mixable and has a distinct maritime edge to it.” In October last year, Portobello Road created what it claimed was the world’s first pechuga gin, which is distilled with turkey breast.
