New Benromach replaces Classic Range whisky
Speyside distillery Benromach has replaced Benromach 100o Proof from its Classic Range with a new single malt Scotch – Benromach Cask Strength Vintage 2008 Batch 1.
Bottled at 57.9% abv, Benromach Cask Strength Vintage 2008 Batch 1 has been matured in first-fill Sherry and Bourbon casks. Only 5,500 bottles will be available to purchase globally from today (24 April) priced at RRP £59.95 (€69.95/ US$77.50). The expression will not be available in the US and China, however, which will instead receive Cask Strength Vintage market exclusives later this year. Tasting notes for the replacement expression include stewed apple, pear and vanilla pod on the nose, leading to cracked black pepper, strawberry, raspberry, orange peel and milk chocolate on the palate, with a smoky edge. Keith Cruickshank, Benromach distillery manager, said: “Every whisky we release has been carefully handcrafted by our close-knit team of distillers. “While retaining the overall flavours that Benromach consumers have enjoyed in Benromach 100o Proof, the new cask strength vintage release will differ subtly in both strength and flavour profile, reflecting the specific casks chosen from the vintage year.” Benromach released a limited edition single malt Scotch whisky made with peated barley and aged in Sherry casks last month.
