Monin adds to its fruit mix range
French syrup brand Monin has expanded its Le Fruit de Monin range with the launch of its Jabuticaba flavour, made using an exotic superfruit.
Jabuticaba (pronounced: zhuh-boo-ti-kah-buh) is a tropical superfruit grown on the trunk of the jabuticabeira tree in Brazilian rainforests. The jabuticabeira tree is also known as the Brazilian grape tree. It is the first fruit in the Le Fruit de Monin range that does not grow on a stem. Made with 50% fruit, the new Fruit de Monin Jabuticaba expression boasts flavours of blackcurrant, cherry and grape, and has an ‘aromatic complexity’ that includes woody notes created by the berry’s growth on the tree trunk. Lee Hyde, senior beverage expert at Monin, commented: “Exotic flavours are going to be huge this summer. Brazilian flavours in particular are the fastest-growing global flavours, with a growth rate of 5.6% year-on-year in the US [Nielsen IQ’s 2022 Brand Balancing Act global study], and we expect this trend to have a presence in the UK. “Consumers are also looking for novelty flavours; almost half (40%) seek innovation and want to keep up with what’s new, and this applies to their drinks, too.” According to Monin’s 2022 concept survey, exotic fruits are the second most popular choice for classic cocktails. The brand has therefore created a range of cocktail recipes for consumers to consider when using its Jabuticaba expression. These include the Jabuticaba White Iced Tea, made with 15ml Le Fruit de Monin Jabuticaba; 30ml white tea concentrate; and 180ml soda water. In addition, it can be added to a Mojito or Caïpirinha cocktail. Hyde added: “Monin’s new Le Fruit de Monin Jabuticaba is the only Jabuticaba fruit mix available on the market, offering venues the opportunity to craft unique drinks creations that truly elevate their menu. “Bartenders and baristas have the opportunity to take inspiration from the story of the Jabuticaba berry for their signature applications, and we look forward to seeing how this exciting new flavour is used in bars, restaurants and coffee shops up and down the country.” Le Fruit de Monin Jabuticaba is now available now in 1-litre bottles. Monin recently predicted the big cocktail trends for this summer.
