The new whiskey is the first from Texas-based Milam & Greene to carry the bottled-in-bond designation.

Whiskey distiller and blender Milam & Greene has announced its first bottled-in-bond release, a nearly five-year-old Bourbon that was distilled in the fall of 2019. The whiskey was contract-distilled in Bardstown, Kentucky, from a mashbill of 70% corn, 22% malted rye, and 8% malted barley.  “I am over the moon with how this turned out. The use of the column stills in Kentucky and adherence to the Bottled in Bond Act regulations added a refinement and subtlety that fans of traditional Bourbon will love,” said Milam & Greene blender and CEO Heather Greene. The inaugural release of the whiskey, which will join Milam & Greene’s core portfolio, comes from 72 char number-four barrels that were batched and bottled at the brand’s facility in Blanco, Texas. It is bottled at 50% ABV and priced at US$65.  On the nose, the whiskey offers notes of candy corn and honey, while the palate carries fresh bread, malted milk balls, and a touch of tannic oak. “We’ve been eagerly monitoring the maturation of this Bourbon for almost five freaking years and watching how it has developed into its gorgeous flavours over time,” said Greene. Milam & Greene’s other core whiskies include a triple-cask Bourbon, Port-finished rye, and a single-barrel Bourbon. The Bottled in Bond Act of 1897 requires all whiskeys that carry the designation to be bottled at 50% ABV, aged for at least four years, and drawn from barrels filled in the same distilling season. Earlier this month, George Dickel released the latest in its line of bottled-in-bond whiskeys, with the historic style gaining support from producers of all sizes. Greene is the author of Whiskey Distilled and founded Milam & Greene in 2017 with Marsha Milam and Marlene Holmes.
