Lost Explorer moves into Tequila
Mezcal brand The Lost Explorer has partnered with maestro Tequilero Enrique de Colsa to create its first Tequila.
De Colsa has spent more than three decades working in Tequila, including as head distiller at Don Julio. De Colsa said: “In The Lost Explorer, I found people with my values and principles, with my way of doing things, and today it’s become a reality. We are together to launch a new Tequila with new flavours, new aromas and a completely new level of excellence.” The new Tequila range adheres to The Lost Explorer’s ethos of ‘exceptional craftsmanship, reverence for nature and singular commitment to sustainability’. The brand works with local farmers to ensure regenerative harvesting practices and uses no additives in its products. Its Tequilas will be produced in small batches at the brand’s distillery in Amatitán, Jalisco. CEO Tanya Clarke said: “We are thrilled to unveil our Tequila, a natural evolution of our agave spirits brand, which seeks to inspire people to celebrate the earth and live curiously. “With Enrique de Colsa at the helm, and the Valley of Tequila as our canvas, each bottle tells a story of craftsmanship, terroir and a dedication to producing a superb Tequila made within the rhythm of nature.” The Tequila range will launch with a blanco expression, which will be available in the US and Mexico from mid-March, followed by a UK and Europe launch in April. The Lost Explorer will soon launch into three new markets and be available in more than 20 countries. Its Tequila will launch in nine markets in 2024.
